While clinical studies are scarce, anecdotally such preparations have been considered to be very effective. How much does your body need? Garlic is made up of a complex mixture of phytochemicals and the organosulphur compound Alliin is considered to be most important. A daily dose of 2 to 4 grams of dry bulb garlic extract is considered sufficient for a therapeutic dosage and general well being - this is equivalent to 4 grams of fresh garlic.
